What Is Avatar: Seven Havens?

Avatar: Seven Havens is the new animated series set in the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, created for Avatar Studios by Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko — the two creators of the original series. It premiered on Paramount+ on October 9, 2026, and its first season, Book One: Survival, runs 13 episodes through the end of October.

The story jumps far beyond Korra's era, to a world two centuries later that has been broken by an apocalyptic event called the Cataclysm. Most of the planet is a hostile wasteland known as the Harshlands, and what remains of humanity shelters in seven fortified cities — the Seven Havens of the title. In this world the Avatar is no longer celebrated: history as the characters know it blames the Avatar for the world's ruin, which makes being one a dangerous thing to be.

The series follows two sisters who each turn out to be an Avatar — Pavi, a vagrant earthbender discovered in the haven of Ellora, and her long-lost twin Nisha. Two Avatars existing at once is unprecedented in the franchise, and the question of why there are two sits at the center of the season's mystery, alongside the masked Faceless raiding the havens and an unknown entity hunting the twins.
