Jae at a Glance

Jae's Story So Far (Book One, Episodes 1-6)
Jae's first act is the inciting incident of the series: he catches Pavi earthbending during a festival and follows her into the Harshlands, where a tornado traps him and her airbending saves his life. When he reports that he has found the Avatar, Karthik does not believe him — the Avatar has been a figure of myth and blame for two centuries, not something a festival kid stumbles into.
The disbelief resolves fast. By episode 3 Jae is formally inducted into the Order of the White Lotus, completing the shortest origin arc in the cast: from witness to member in three episodes. In episode 4 he commands the squad that repels the Faceless raid on Ellora's grain stores, and in episode 5 he works the city's fear like a detective, suspecting Datu of writing the blue-ink anti-Avatar messages.
His biggest beat so far is diplomatic rather than martial: in episode 6, with Ellora fracturing under the Afflicted's panic, it is Jae who persuades Chancellor Kayoko to radio the other havens for help.
